The consequences of colonization remain all too clear in Gaza. There is an abuse of power by Israel and by world powers.

Political expediency keeps referring to Israel’s right to defend itself. Israel however is no longer just defending itself,  in a grossly unequal  and one-sided war. Israel is pursuing its aim of ‘decimating’ Hamas but along the way it has decimated Gaza and killed more than 33,000 Palestinians. Injuries to civilians have been catastrophic. The value of life has been rendered utterly meaningless with indiscriminate killing  by Israel.

World powers have demonstrated an uncritical support for Israel. The world tolerance of the siege of Gaza by Israel has been shameful. The supply of arms to Israel is utterly incomprehensible.

Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet have poor judgement and have pursued the destruction of Gaza relentlessly. The IDF has followed slavishly. Media in Israel have justified the appalling behaviour of their politicians and the IDF by repeated statements regarding Hamas’ terrorist activity.  Israelis have been raised with the aim of not allowing themselves to be victimized. They should spare a thought  for the Palestinian people who are now totally victimized.  It would be opportune too to remember that Jews were given a state in Palestine against the wishes of Hamas. It is important that further opportunism for gaining land on the West Bank and Gaza is completely resisted.

Claims have been made by Israelis that they have contributed enormously to science, agriculture and the media. Their contribution to the latter is nothing to be proud of while their contribution to science and agriculture is no more than that of other ethnicities. What has happened is that rich Jews have been benefactors in universities, in the media and in politics. Their influence thereby has been big and has affected and formed their reputation and their power, resulting in a huge leverage in the US, Germany and Britain. Vested interests preclude criticism.

People of the world are alert to what is happening and have better judgement than their leaders. Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet must be removed in order to restore any credibility to Israel. World powers need to be prohibitive of any attempt by Israel to procure further territory in Palestine. Equity must be restored between States of Palestine and Israel respectively.  Bullying, belligerence and greed with land grabs cannot be tolerated.

Historical truth and decency must be aimed for at this late stage. Real leaders are needed but where are they?
