Colonization of Ireland by Britain left a country without control of its own destiny. Relative peace on the island has only been achieved in the last twenty years. Colonization of Palestine by Britain led to the creation of the Jewish state and the confinement of Palestinians to the West Bank and Gaza. Peace and stability have never been achieved. Israel has been supported militarily and financially by major world powers. The Palestinians remain poor and vulnerable. Their people are being decimated by war and deprivation. Settlers continue to take land that does not belong to them. When will world leaders behave like leaders and secure a balanced, fair and peaceful two- state solution in Palestine?
