Israel and the US have lost their way
Israel has become a rogue state despised by world leaders even the US, although the US continues to arm Israel. Navi Pillay a former member of the ICC who has spoken out against Israel’s genocide in Gaza, has received the Nobel Peace Prize.
President Trump has ordered sanctions against the ICC and says that he should have been awarded the Peace Prize! What peace has he achieved? Almost 1500 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the so-called peace of 10th of October 2025. The war caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has killed an enormous number of soldiers and civilians. While this war should never have been allowed to start, Trump has not stopped it. Israel and the US started the war in Iran which has had a disastrous effect in the Middle East and has severely threatened the world economy. Trump now has an opportunity to stop the war in Iran and help the Iranian people but makes threats instead of peace.
According to Trump, Iran will do what the US wants or Iran will cease to exist! He seems to be unaware that Iran is Persia the home of civilization. Iran/ Persia will exist long after the US has self-destructed by poor policies. Trump must forget arrogance. He has not got the cards to bully Iran. The world economy needs help. Trump must not wait for the mid-terms. He should show leadership now.
By ordering sanctions against the ICC Trump undermines the EU and NATO. Trump’s team sound utterly hollow as they too undermine the authority of the ICC. The US needs to adhere to international law. If everyone ignores the Law chaos ensues and there is free-fall.
Who is advising Trump? While Ukraine is seeking peace, Trump is buying diesel from Russia in order presumably to decrease pump prices in the US. This will undermine Ukraine’s efforts to achieve peace.
Gaza is under perpetual siege as Israeli occupies 2/3 of Gaza. Israel’s efforts to expand its borders cannot be allowed to happen. The Board of Peace seems to have little power or function. The Board therefore must have no jurisdiction over Palestinian land.
The UK retains diplomatic relations with Israel making it the ideal leader for a peace initiative on Gaza. The US oversaw a pseudo peace process in October 2025. Israel however continues to kill civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. The UK with the Arab states, the EU, Canada and Australia must insist that Israel now participates in a real peace process. Hamas and Hezbollah must be consulted. Arms discussions must not hinder the process.
Benjamin Netanyahu and his Israeli cabinet have made Israel more vulnerable than ever. They have made Jews worldwide a target for hate and retribution. BN’s speech at the UN was delusional. The sight of Israeli ministers raging about the Palestinian animals and calling on the God of Israel while Israeli settlers demolish Palestinian homes, clearly shows unhinged desperate men.
The anniversary of 7th October was commemorated in Israel. BN apparently knew that Hamas was about to launch the October 7th attack. Did Mossad know? Recently BN accused on Omani co-pilot of trying to sabotage Ben Gurion airport. It remains to be seen why Mossad was not alert to this. It seems very good fortune that an Israeli plumber was able to stabilize the plane, which happened to have two pilots on board in addition to the captain and co-pilot.
Israel cannot rest in peace. Continuous war has cost Israel monetarily while the cost of lives and property in Gaza and Lebanon is priceless. The government of Israel must be changed. Israel must stop the genocide of Palestinians. It must stop the occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon and must cease destabilizing Syria.
The Arab states must act now and show that they will not tolerate the genocide in Gaza. Hamas and Hezbollah must agree a ceasefire. A UN peacekeeping army must be sent to Gaza and Israel must get out of Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. Peace is the only way forward. The UK has left diplomatic channels open for Israel to participate in peace talks. The UK must follow rhetoric with action on a two state solution now.
