Israel continues to break ceasefires: EU must sanction Israel

The US and Israel  have no credibility.  They have made a disastrous mistake  attacking Iran. While the world should be trying to stop global warming, famine  and the civil war in Sudan where people are suffering mental as well as physical trauma, the Middle East is once again a cauldron of trouble.

Extreme Groups are forming in the US and in European countries espousing  anti-immigration, anti-colour, anti-Semitism.  Israel and the US have flouted international law. Chaos is everywhere.

Israel has invested heavily  in security and as  a result has become expert in cybersecurity.  The worry is that there seems to be little accountability and Israeli spyware is said to be able to access data from journalists and senior personnel in enemy and even in friendly countries.  That seems to be how enemies have been targeted and killed.  The exploding pagers in Lebanon come to mind.  How can Israel be trusted?  Israel maintains that security is vital.  That is the case in all countries but Israel is using cybersecurity to target anyone considered an enemy.

Israel has broken all ceasefires.  Even on the 13th of May 2026 an Israeli drone has killed 2 paramedics in a most bloodcurdling way.

October 7th should never have happened but Israel should have taken former President Biden’s advice not to seek revenge.  That  enduring revenge was  and remains totally out of proportion to the events  of October 7th bearing in mind that Gaza was under siege since 2007 and thousands of Palestinian prisoners were interred without trial in Israeli jails. There are many reports that abuse, physical and sexual,  has occurred during incarceration.  Now Israel has passed a law linking the death penalty to the October 7th events.  How many of the Hamas leaders are still alive?

Israel has invaded  Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank.

Israel has destroyed Gaza and left the Palestinians existing in tents.  In Lebanon, Israel has displaced almost a million people, destroyed  Beirut, and occupied southern Lebanon.

Israel’s army has behaved disgracefully.  They have been armed by the US and Germany and are financed by the EU. The  Israeli army has stood idly by while illegal Jewish settlers injure and kill the lawful Palestinian owners of the West Bank.

More than 5000 people have disappeared without trace in Gaza and Palestine.  Photographs have shown Israeli soldiers behaving totally inappropriately to people detained without any justification.

The US  continues to speak hot air.   President Trump maintains that there is a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon  while Israel continues to kill civilians  in  both countries.  Israel keeps destroying hospitals,  and homes and paralysing infrastructure.   This is a war crime when a peace agreement is supposed to be in place.  Israel has consistently ignored international law.  This is not acceptable in any environment.

When confronted, Mr Trump repeats the cliché that Israel must be allowed to defend itself.  Mr Trump seems to be unaware that  every day the Israeli army kills civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.  Palestinians are threatened daily by illegal Jewish settlers in the West Bank while Israeli security turns a blind eye. Neither Gaza or Lebanon  have a functioning health system.  The people of Gaza are living in tents.  The Lebanese are living on the street.  Israel is determined  to destroy Lebanon just like Gaza. The majority of people are  living in fear of continuous attacks from Israeli drones and missiles which are precision equipment but  somehow manage to hit an inordinate number of civilians, Health Centres and ambulances.  Food  and medicine are in short supply in Gaza and Palestine.

Hezbollah may have arms  and sends rockets into Israel  from time to time but there are rarely any casualties.  Hezbollah maintains that only they can prevent Israel  from taking Lebanese land. How can the Lebanese and Palestinians defend themselves against Israel’s state of the art military equipment?!   Israel wants to expand into Gaza and Lebanon and even into Syria.  The EU and the US  have not addressed  at any stage this tragic situation.

The people in Gaza and Lebanon have been treated abysmally.  People in Iran have been subjected to war imposed by the US and Israel.  There are a few European leaders who have spoken out regarding the appalling treatment of civilians in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.  Spain, Pakistan, Turkey and  possibly France  have shown empathy.  The UK, the founder of Israel is in turmoil,   arguing unproductively  and may be forced unnecessarily into a general election,  but the UK people have consistently held pro- Palestinian marches.   The US and Germany continue to supply arms to Israel.   The US and the EU leadership  have  ignored human suffering.  Is this a case of ‘the moderate colonised West’  versus Islam?

The Israeli army has advanced into Gaza and Lebanon.  Israel’s aim is to occupy both Gaza and Lebanon.  Israel covets the water supply of the Litani river in Lebanon.  This aggression cannot be allowed to continue.

Israel must  stay confined to its original generous borders.  Any expansion of Israel will lead to a never-ending conflict, worse  if that is possible,  than any previously experienced.

A diplomatic settlement is the only way forward to end conflict with Iran, Lebanon and with Iran’s so-called proxies.   Israel must  be made cooperate genuinely with a ceasefire  and there must be an agreement to vacate Gaza and Lebanon.

Life in Gaza,  Lebanon  and Iran  must not be treated as a commodity.  Life is a human right that is being denied to the Palestinians and the Lebanese.  In Iran  people have lost hope of normal life.

The EU must impose sanctions on Israel.  The EU must support Turkey and Pakistan to end Middle East conflict.  Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran have got to come to terms with Israel’s long-term support from the US both politically and materially.  Sending rockets into Israel  achieves nothing productive  for Lebanon. Lebanon with or without Hezbollah needs to use political means to establish Lebanese authority.  Dislikes  must be replaced by expediency.   Israel needs to examine its record of violence.  The violence in the Middle East cannot be allowed to continue.
